In the sec­ond con­cert in her series high­light­ing wom­en per­form­ers and com­posers, Pianist and Toy Pianist Kate Ryder is joined by acclaimed Amer­i­can vio­lin­ist Miri­am Kramer in a vibrant and eclec­tic pro­gram­me of rarely per­formed works by French com­posers Eric Satie and Lili Boulanger, John Cage’s Noc­turne, Dai Fujikura’s Breath­less for Toy Piano and Vio­lin and fea­tur­ing works by New York­ers Julia Wolfe and Deb­o­rah Netanel among oth­ers. Join us on Bastille Day for a glass of wine and great music!

Holis­tic Day for Pianists, with Melanie Span­swick and GéNIA
Four con­nect­ed work­shops direct­ed towards real­is­ing your inner poten­tial in per­for­mance and study, led by piano guru Melanie Span­swick and Piano-Yoga® inven­tor and teacher GéNIA. The ses­sions are: Piano-Yoga for Pianists, Sight-Read­ing Work­shop, Mem­o­ri­sa­tion Class, and Exer­cis­es from “Trans­form Your Hands”, the book about Piano-Yoga. Refresh­ments includ­ed and author book sign­ings.

T’ang Emper­or Suite — Vio­lins from Bei­jing and Taipei
Con­stance An-Chi Hsieh and Tse Hsu Cheng are the vio­lin­ists in the pre­mière of The Suite of Li Long-Ji for vio­lin and piano, a five move­ment work cre­at­ed by L.Studio using tra­di­tion­al Chi­ne­se mate­ri­als and play­ing tech­niques, which takes inspi­ra­tion from a clas­si­cal poem about T’ang emper­or Xuan Zong and his love for his con­cu­bine Yang Gui-Fei. Includ­ed in the Suite are imi­ta­tions of the ancient pipa (lute) on the vio­lin and of chime stones on the piano. Oth­er pieces as well in tra­di­tion­al styles and three young musi­cians from Bei­jing will be here with some small show-pieces, as well as a demon­stra­tion of Chi­ne­se cal­lig­ra­phy. The cul­tur­al her­itage of Chi­na pre­sent­ed by a new gen­er­a­tion! Doors open 6.00pm.

PIANO-YOGA® Sum­mer Con­cert 2017
Our bi-annu­al Piano-Yoga® Con­cert giv­ing our stu­dents the oppor­tu­ni­ty to per­form what they have learned through­out the year in a cre­ative envi­ron­ment; in front of our patrons, friends and fam­i­ly. It will also provide a plat­form to demon­strate the Piano-Yoga® skills for those, who stud­ied this holis­tic method.
This year’s music will include works by Haydn, Mendelssohn, Schu­mann, Rach­mani­noff, Scri­abin, Chopin, Rach­mani­noff and Shostakovich. Per­for­mances will be given by some of our top com­pe­ti­tion win­ners and fes­ti­val par­tic­i­pants. GéNIA will also pre­mier her new work that she recent­ly com­plet­ed, ‘Shades’, The­me and Vari­a­tions on one of the most pop­u­lar UK 1980th com­mer­cials writ­ten by David Min­dell.  Orig­i­nal orches­tral record­ing of the piece may be found here.
Guests are wel­come to attend the par­ty after­wards where they can meet GéNIA and her stu­dents.

Ryan Williams and Yuko Sano: From Dawn to Dusk — Music for Tenor and Piano
A recital by Ryan Williams (tenor) and Young Stein­way Artist, Yuko Sano (piano) fea­tur­ing songs and solo piano works by Debussy, Rav­el, Tosti and Tip­pet which all reflect Dall’Alba al Tra­mon­to, a song cycle by British com­poser Michael Stimp­son which forms the cen­tral point to the evening’s pro­gram­me. Based on a set of poems by Gio­van­ni Pas­coli, and exten­sive­ly toured in Italy and the UK, Dall’Alba al Tra­mon­to (From Dawn to Dusk) encap­su­lates much of Pascoli’s rich life which was marked by the tragedies with­in his fam­i­ly. In con­trast to the­se shock­ing events is Pascoli’s patri­o­tism, love of the coun­tryside, and his main source of com­fort, the bells of the dis­tant duo­mo of Bar­ga, Tus­cany, where he spent much of his artis­tic life.
