Ryan Williams and Yuko Sano: From Dawn to Dusk — Music for Tenor and Piano
A recital by Ryan Williams (tenor) and Young Steinway Artist, Yuko Sano (piano) featuring songs and solo piano works by Debussy, Ravel, Tosti and Tippet which all reflect Dall’Alba al Tramonto, a song cycle by British composer Michael Stimpson which forms the central point to the evening’s programme. Based on a set of poems by Giovanni Pascoli, and extensively toured in Italy and the UK, Dall’Alba al Tramonto (From Dawn to Dusk) encapsulates much of Pascoli’s rich life which was marked by the tragedies within his family. In contrast to these shocking events is Pascoli’s patriotism, love of the countryside, and his main source of comfort, the bells of the distant duomo of Barga, Tuscany, where he spent much of his artistic life.
Tickets: £10 in advance from eventbrite (+ booking fee); £13 on the door. Doors open 6.45pm
