Description
Jörg Widmann composed this short piece in 2015 for the 90th birthday of Pierre Boulez. In this piece, the cello is used in an anything but classical manner: The hands hit the fingerboard, the fingers play tremolos on the body of the cello or snip the strings. Free rhythms and figurations alternate with dance-like themes and improvisational elements while the player takes up unusual positions – sometimes the instrument lies on his or her lap, sometimes he or she carries it through the room. This listening and viewing experience is now available in a graphically demanding edition.
